So, I have a confession to make. I have fallen in love with cooking. I’m looking up recipes in my free time, dreaming of marinades in my sleep, experimenting nightly with dinners and it is SO MUCH FUN. When we first got married I found cooking a bit stressful, figuring out the timing was a challenge and my man eats a lot and likes his leftovers, so figuring out portions took a while.
Last year I read a book by Candace Cameron Bure (DJ from full house), called Reshaping it All – it’s about healthy eating and how in order to achieve your physical goals your spiritual health needs to align with your physical health. It’s a great read for all you women who struggle with staying healthy, poor eating habits, or are even just looking for healthier recipes and some motivation. I started re-reading this book over the past week and it has inspired me to start playing around with different flavors and cooking a different variety of healthy foods.
So this week in Vanessa and Joel’s kitchen (he BBQ’s for me:-) ), we’ve made: turkey tacos, grain mustard pork chops and my personal favourite last night: grilled pesto salmon, spinach stuffed pasta in a garlic white wine sauce, and grilled red and yellow peppers mmmmm. I like tossing around spices and herbs and seeing what goes well together. I find it funny that I love adventure and experimenting when it comes to food, because I absolutely hate it in real life. Tonight on the menu: roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, grilled asparagus and corn on the cob (we are splurging a bit tonight in celebration of Joel’s new job). Who knows, maybe a cookbook is in my future?
